How
much does Kurlo cost?
top
Nothing. Kurlo is 100% free for all users.
Does Kurlo contain any
spyware or adware?
top
Absolutely NOT! We are totally against embedding spyware and/or adware in free programs. The below award, certified
by www.softpedia.com, was
given to Kurlo for being spyware, adware and virus free.

Also, Kurlo is listed on
download sites such as
Download.com and
Tucows that thouroughly test programs before they are listed. If
they contain spyware, adware or viruses they will not be listed.
We hate spyware and adware as much as you do.
What is the Java Runtime Environment
(JRE) and why do I need it?
top
Kurlo is written in the Java programming language. The Java
Runtime Environment (JRE) is necessary to run java programs. Once
you have JRE installed you will be able to run not only Kurlo but
any java program. Most computers come with JRE already
installed. Click
here to download the latest JRE release.
Kurlo requires JRE 1.4
or higher. Click
here to check your JRE version.
Why don't
I see the login screen at startup?
top
When there is only one user and the “Save Password” option is
turned on for that user, Kurlo will bypass the login screen and
automatically log you in.
How
do I upgrade from a previous version?
top
Simply download the latest release and install it in the same
directory as the previous version. All your data (users, contacts,
etc.) will be retained and used by the new version.
How do I transfer Kurlo from my old computer to my new computer?
top
On your old computer:
- Exit Kurlo if it is currently
running.
- Go to the directory you installed
Kurlo, C:\Program Files\Kurlo by default
- Go to the "classes" directory.
- Copy the 4-6 files that start with
"pack".
On your new computer:
-
Download
and install the latest Kurlo release.
- Go to the directory you installed
Kurlo.
- Go to the "classes" directory.
- Paste the "pack" files
(previously copied from you old computer) here. If you are asked if you
want to replace the existing file select "YES to All".
Can I
import contacts from my other contact manager into Kurlo?
top
Yes. It is easier than you might think to switch from your other
contact manager to Kurlo. First, create an export file with your
other contact manager. Then, import the export file you created with
your other contact manager into Kurlo by selecting "Import..." from
the "File" menu. You can find a tutorial on our
tutorials page that shows you step by
step how to import contacts into Kurlo.
How can I share contacts with someone else who has Kurlo?
top
The easiest way to share contacts with someone else is to create
an export file. When you create an export file you can select the
contacts and fields to export. After creating the export file, give
it to the person you want to share it with and he/she can import the
contacts from the export file you created into their copy of Kurlo.
You can find a tutorial on our
tutorials
page that shows you step by step how to export contacts.
What is the import bug
workaround?
top
Kurlo 1.3 has a bug that affects the import process when you import
individual contacts from a file that was not created with Kurlo. The
Kurlo home internet fields (Home Email 1, Home Email 2, Home
Website, ICQ #, Aim Name, Yahoo! Name and MSN Name) are not in the
correct order resulting in import fields not being imported to the
correct home internet fields.
The workaround is below.
Remember, this is only for files created with other applications. If
you are importing a file created with Kurlo, the import bug will not
affect the import process.
This table illustrates how
to map import fields so they are stored in the appropriate Kurlo
home internet fields.

Home Email 1 |

For example:
If you want to store an import field in the Kurlo Home Email 1
field, map it to the ICQ # field
This bug will be fixed in
the next release of Kurlo. Sorry for any inconvience.
