HELP TOPICS - GETTING STARTED

Getting started with Kurlo is an easy process. First you create a user. A user consists of a user name, password and an optional password hint. After creating a user you log in. Type in your password and click the “Log In” button. If you would like for Kurlo to remember your password check the “Save Password” checkbox before clicking the “Log In” button.

When you log in for the first time the Startup Tips dialog will appear offering tips that will help to familiarize you with Kurlo. When you are finished look at the tips, close the Startup Tips dialog.

Kurlo manages both individual and organization contacts. An individual contact is a person or a couple. Some individual contact fields are spouse, children and birthday. An organization contact is an organization, business or group. Some organization contact fields are organization type, contact person and general phone numbers.

There are 3 tabs located on the left side of the main window. This is where your contacts are located. The first tab is the Individual Contacts Tab, the second is the Organization Contact Tab and the third is the Search Results Tab. The Individual Contacts Tab allows you to add, rename and delete individual address books and also add, edit or delete individual contacts. The Organization Contacts Tab allows you to add, rename or delete organization address books and also add, edit or delete organization contacts. The Search Results Tab is where the contacts matching the search criteria are displayed.

Contacts are stored in address books. Individual contacts are stored in individual address books and organization contacts are stored in organization address books. The address books you start with are only suggestions and can be renamed or deleted. A contact can be stored in one or more address books. When you delete a contact it is removed from all address books. However, you can remove a contact from one address book without removing it from other address books by "editing" the contact.

When you delete an address book you delete the address book and all of its contacts. All contacts from the deleted address book will remain in any other address books they belong to. For example, if John Doe is in your Co-Workers address book and your Friends address book and you delete the Co-Workers address book, John Doe will remain in your Friends address book.

Kurlo is designed to be very user-friendly. You’ll get the hang of it in no time. If you need additional help, check out our tutorials, faq and help topics (you are here right now).
