How to import contacts    top

To open the Import dialog click the menu "File" then select "Import..."

You can cancel the Import process at any time by pressing the "Cancel" button.

Step 1 of 3:

There are 2 parts to step 1. The first part is to select the file to import. Click on the "Select File to Import..." button to select the file to import. The second part of step 1 is to select the field separator used in the file that is being imported. Comma is the most common field separator used although tab is used by some contact management systems. Click the "Next >" button to continue on to step 2 of 3.

Step 2 of 3:

There are 2 parts to step 2. The first part is to select the contact type of the imported contacts. Read the section on Contacts to learn more about the 2 types of contacts. The second part of step 2 is to select the address book to store the imported contacts. You have the option of storing the imported contacts in an existing address book or in a new address book. If you select to store the imported contacts in a new address book you must provide the name of the new address book. Kurlo will create the new address book before importing the contacts. Click the "< Back" button to return to step 1 of 3 or click the "Next >" button to continue on to step 3 of 3.

Step 3 of 3:

Step 3 is used to map the imported fields with Kurlo fields. Kurlo does its best to associate the imported fields with the appropriate Kurlo fields based on the imported field names. If you do not want to import a particular field uncheck the checkbox next to the field name. If you would like to import a field that is not checked, check the checkbox next to the field name. If there is no Kurlo field associated with the imported field you checked, you will be asked to select the Kurlo field you want to associate with the imported field.

To add or change the mapping of a field either double click the field or select the field and click the "Change Mapping..." button.

If the import file does not list the field names as the first record then uncheck the "First record is field names" checkbox.

To return to step 2 of 3 click the "<Back" button.

Once you are pleased with the field mapping click the "Finish" button to begin importing the contacts. This should take only a few seconds at most. A dialog will appear notifying you of how many contacts were successfully imported. If 0 contacts were successfully imported, that means the file you selected to import is not a valid import file.
